What is a Buckeye?
Named for their resemblance to the nut of the Ohio buckeye tree,
the Buckeye candy is the quintessential taste of Ohio!
A Buckeye is a small, shiny, dark brown nut with a light tan patch that comes from the official state tree of Ohio, the buckeye tree. The nickname is also used for the Ohio State University team's mascot, Brutus Buckeye, who is a giant nut. Buckeye nuts are actually mildly toxic in their uncooked state, but you can eat them after removing them from their shell and roasting them. No worries though, our Buckeyes are made with peanut butter and chocolate!
